Marriage and Family Therapy
Sherry's principle areas of experience are: victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, survivors of sexual abuse, adjustment disorders, depression, life development problems, pre-marital counseling, adult AD/HD, marital conflicts, parenting skills, women's issues and relationship issues for singles. This includes individual, couples and group therapy. Her therapeutic approach is an integration of psychotherapy, communication skills, family systems approach and stress reduction. She is interested in the enhancement and encouragement of an individual's, couple's or family's well-being by focusing on problems and their origins, insights about and resolution of. Her counseling modalities are client-centered (using the Virginia Satir model) whereby clients are helped to develop their own insights and solutions to bring growth, personal progress and symptom reduction.
In 1994 Sherry Clarke, MA, LCMFT, received a Masters in Counseling Psychology degree from St. Martin's College in Lacey, Washington. In addition, she completed courses at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland and Hood College. Her professional affiliations include the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Member. She has been in private practice for the past 14 years in the Washington, DC area as well as Washington State and Georgia and is Licensed in both Maryland and Georgia as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She involves herself in continuing education on a regular basis.
